Description
History
The Lisini-Clementi family has been active in Montalcino since the 16th century. The property extends over approximately 150 hectares, 24 of which are dedicated to vineyards, located in an area with high quality soils thanks to the influence of the Maremma sea winds. Thanks to the commitment of Lodovico Lisini, son of Alessandro, the farm has had an important development, thanks to the potential of the area in which it is located.
Grapes used

Production method
The grapes are harvested manually with careful selection of the bunches. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks which lasts, overall with the period of maceration on the skins, 20-26 days at a controlled temperature of 24-26°C. During this phase, frequent daily punching down is carried out. The wine is then drawn off and malolactic fermentation is carried out. Aging takes place in Slavonian oak barrels of various sizes, from 20 to 50 hl for a period of 48 months, with a further rest in the bottle for another 6/8 months.

Tasting notes
At sight the wine is dark garnet red. On the nose notes of ripe spices of tobacco, cocoa, arabica coffee, roasting and licorice, with notes of iodized minerality and hazelnut, elegant and “crunchy”, with ripe mulberry fruit, blackberry jam and wild berries, violet potpourri dried. On the palate the wine is complex, soft, mature and with a deep minerality; the skeleton is quite important and the finish is held together by silky tannins and balanced acidity. Final that refers to spices.
Possible combinations
Lisini Brunello di Montalcino Ugolaia is one of our favorite brunellos. The great historicity of this company combined with the quality of the land and the grapes obtained allow this company to produce some of the best brunellos ever; for this reason, it is a great meditation wine, capable only of improving with a few years of rest in the cellar. Also excellent with savory and long-cooked meat dishes and with selections of aged cheeses.
