History
The Bruna Grimaldi company, founded in 1957, has had as its objective from the beginning the production of high quality wines, starting from the care of the vineyard. In 1990 the daughter Bruna and her husband Franco acquired the company, expanding it and opening it to new markets. The third generation of the family, represented by Simone and Martina, brings enthusiasm and technological innovation.
Grapes used
Alba Barbera 100%
Production method
The grapes come from vineyards in the municipalities of La Morra, Roddi, Diano d’Alba and Sinio. The grapes are harvested by hand in boxes in the second-third week of September. The fresh grapes are destemmed and then fermented at a controlled temperature in contact with the skins for 10-12 days. The wine also carries out the malolactic fermentation in cement. Subsequently the wine goes through a period of aging in Slavonian oak tonneaux of 12-15 months.

Tasting notes
The wine has an intense ruby red color with violet hues. On the nose notes of fresh fruit such as raspberries, cherries and small red berries, violets and some spicy notes of black pepper and tobacco deriving from the stay in wood. Enveloping and full-bodied in the mouth, balanced by a discreet final acidity. Very drinkable.
Possible combinations
Ideal on first courses with meat sauce, but also on chopping boards made up of cured meats and tasty cheeses. Barbera is the company’s “all meal” wine and Piedmont in general, even if in reality the attention to quality and the use of large barrels elevate this simple wine to a higher level which makes it appreciable even by palates more sophisticated.
