Description
History
Girlan/Cornaiano is a village of which there are historical documents since 1085; the variety of soils, the altitude which varies from 250 to 550 m a.s.l. and the particular microclimate make it an area particularly suited to the cultivation of native and international vines. However, the current cellar was founded in 1923 thanks to the foresight of 23 members, who will see the company continue to evolve, until the inauguration of new premises and more modern production facilities in 2010.
Grapes used
100% Pinot Gris
Production method
The grapes are harvested strictly by hand in crates so that only the best bunches are used. The still very fresh grapes are then destemmed and softly pressed. Fermentation takes place at low temperature in stainless steel vats. A period of refinement in stainless steel also follows before bottling and being placed on the market.
Alcohol content
13.5%
Tasting notes
Intense straw yellow color with greyish reflections. On the nose hints of white peach, green apple, citrus fruits, mountain herbs and iodine minerals. Fresh and mineral in the mouth, with fruity notes and marked final acidity. Sensation always present also in the mouth of minerality.
Possible combinations
Girlan Pinot Grigio is perfect for lovers of acidic and fruity white wines, therefore excellent as an aperitif or to drink by the glass. In combination we see it well with delicate dishes based on asparagus, cheese fondues or fresh and creamy cheeses, delicate fish dishes such as steamed cod.
